Workshop: An Overview of Criminal Procedure for the ASL Court Interpreter

The course is designed to introduce the court interpreter to the constitutional principles undergirding the state’s power to institute criminal proceedings against individuals. The course will include a description of the procedure unique to the legal setting and the process that a criminal defendant goes through from investigation, charging, pretrial practice, trial and appeal. The course will examine specific terminology in English and ASL which can be expected in criminal matters.
